Meet the Author

Hi! I’m Ashlie Monroe — a mother, wife, teacher, and storyteller.
I was born and raised in Idaho and still call it home today. After high school, I started college as a radiology major, but something inside me kept saying that it wasn’t the right path. After some soul-searching, I switched to elementary education—and everything clicked. The moment I stepped into a classroom for my first field experience, I knew I had found where I was meant to be. I graduated from Boise State University in 2017 and have been teaching elementary school ever since.

My husband and I met as kids at our local motocross track, and now we’re raising our daughters with the same love for adventure—dirtbikes, fishing, camping, and all the simple joys of growing up outdoors.

My dream is to continue writing stories that find their way into homes, classrooms, and the hearts of families everywhere.

My Writing Journey

Growing up, I was always drawn to writing and poetry. Before the days of tech and screens, I would pass the time by making up stories and jotting them down just for fun. In high school, I took a Newspaper & Journalism elective—and ended up sticking with it all four years, eventually becoming an editor.

Writing a children's book had always been a quiet dream of mine, but for a long time, doubt and ignorance kept it tucked away. Then, during my oldest daughter’s toddler years, inspiration struck during our bedtime routine (two books and snuggles, always). The words for Bedtime Memories came to me—rhyming and all—and I knew I had to write it.

I chose to self-publish because I wanted full creative control, especially when it came to the illustrations. After plenty of research and trial and error, Bedtime Memories was born.

Shortly after its release, I found out I was expecting my second daughter. That chapter inspired a new story, and Waiting for You came together naturally. It has since become an award-winning title, and I couldn’t be more proud.

Thank you for following along on my writing journey—it’s only just getting started.
